Birdie & Carol Harris School of Performing Arts
is offering students an opportunity for creative discovery and growth in stage performance at the
Summer Music & Theatre Academy!
This unique experience is designed to benefit students of all skill levels from beginner to advanced, while allowing for different degrees of participation!

Open to Youth
Grades Pre-K thru 12!!

Students will work both individually and in groups on skills in acting, singing, improvisation, writing, performing and MUCH MORE!.
Academy activities will take place from
Monday-Thursday, beginning
June 10 and ending July 25.*
Each session will end with a
public performance
of the students' work during the prior two-weeks!

Sing, Dance, Stomp & Play! (M&W 8-8:50am)
There’s no better way to start the day than to Sing, Dance, Stomp & Play! In this fun new session kids will explore music and drama through improvisational acting, singing and dancing to tell familiar stories in new and creative ways!

iMAGiNATiON THEATRE, jr

Here’s a chance to develop that creative imagination through story-telling and acting. Acting improvisation, staging, and even song-writing skills are developed during this summer session, culminating with the performance of an original mini-musical! It’s amazing what these kids can do when their imaginations soar!

iMAGiNATiON THEATRE I & II (M-Th 9am-noon)
If you love to put your own spin on your favorite stories, this is the place for you! We take well-known
fairytales and nursery rhymes and re-tell them with in our own words! We may even add a character or two… We can go wherever our imaginations take us! All ages will work together to create a new musical, which will be presented at the conclusion of our adventure!

ROCKSPA
(12:30-2pm)
Guitars and keyboards and drums…Oh my! It’s time to bring greet that Rock Star that’s been hiding inside of you! This is a great opportunity to take you shot at being in a rock band! In this unique experience you’ll learn to play songs on guitar, bass, keyboard and drums, as well as vocals. At the end of it all we’ll have a live concert for all your biggest fans!

ON BROADWAY I & II
(2:15-3:45pm)
Gotta sing? Gotta dance? Gotta be a star? This is your chance to do it all! Participants will sing, choreograph, and stage songs from musicals, creating an original musical review. Students will sing solos as well as group songs, and work together to present an original final performance!
(Gr. 2-12)
Individual Lessons (Times to be determined)
In addition to our group activities, students are encouraged to take individual summer lessons. New students are being accepted on PIANO, VOICE, UKULELE, and GUITAR. Band instrument lessons will be available on a limited basis. If you have an interest in SONGWRITING or MUSIC THEORY, we can do that, too! We are happy to tailor lessons to your needs, but sign up soon, as these slots fill up quickly! (All Ages)
